Summary of the interview

  1. Thomas got started with AJAX when they started thinking about building Fluxiom2
  2. Scriptaculous3 was created because there wasn’t one integrated powerful JavaScript solution
  3. Scriptaculous has autocompletion, in-place editor, drag-and-drop and visual effects
  4. The most-loved featured in Scriptaculous is drag-and-drop
  5. Scriptaculous 1.5 will have more new features (came out in Dec)
  6. Thomas wants to do a “Scriptaculous Light” version
  7. Fluxiom2 is a digital asset management tool that allows people to get away from traditional web-based models.
  8. Fluxiom has a one-click tag editor
  9. AJAX is playing a part in helping the web mature
  10. Thomas is on the core team for Ruby on Rails5 and he feels it really “hits the nail on the head” for most web developers
  11. Rails makes programming fun again
  12. Rails 1.0 will have improved performance
  13. Fluxiom will be used for more than just digital asset management, in the future
